Introduction
This is the plain-language version of how Kura Digital handles your information. It covers this website and the way we work with clients.
South Africa’s privacy law is the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and our POPIA Policy sets out the same subject in the statutory detail the Act calls for: the lawful basis for each type of processing, your rights as a data subject, retention periods, and how to complain to the Information Regulator. If you want the full picture, read that one. This page is the short version.
What we collect
Only what we need, and almost all of it is what you type into the enquiry form yourself:
- Your name, email address and message. These are required, because we cannot reply without them.
- Your phone or WhatsApp number, business name and the service you are interested in. These are optional, and useful for quoting accurately.
- Technical information recorded when you submit the form, meaning your IP address and browser, used only to block spam and rate-limit submissions. The IP address is stored as a one-way hash and deleted after two hours.
- If you become a client: billing details, domain registrant details, and the content you give us for your site.
We do not want sensitive information such as health, religion, politics or biometrics, or information about children, and we ask you not to send it through the website.
Why we collect it
To reply to you, to quote, to do the work, to invoice, to keep the website free of spam, and to keep the records the law requires. That is the whole list.
We never sell or rent your information, and we do not add you to a mailing list because you asked for a quote.
How long we keep it
Enquiries: while we are dealing with them and for a reasonable period afterwards. Anti-spam records: two hours. Client and accounting records: as long as tax and company law requires. Anything else: until there is no longer a reason to keep it.
You can ask us to delete your information at any time and we will, unless the law requires us to keep it.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, withdraw your consent, or object to how we are using it. Email info@kuradigital.co.za and we will deal with it, normally within 30 days.
Your full set of rights, and how to complain to the Information Regulator if we get it wrong, are set out in the POPIA Policy.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS. Enquiries reach our mailbox over an authenticated, encrypted connection. Mailbox credentials sit in a server-side file that a browser cannot request, and never appear in the website’s code. Hosting includes daily off-site backups.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend ours is. If something goes wrong in a way that puts your information at risk, POPIA requires us to tell you and the Regulator, and we will.
Links to other websites
Our portfolio links to websites we have built for clients, and our contact details link to WhatsApp. Once you follow a link off this site, you are on someone else’s website and their privacy policy applies, not ours.
